TyrantTHC: What was it like working with Chino from the Deftones?
Bobo: Well, what Chino did was basically a testimonial. It really wasn't that he worked on the song, but he gave his point of view of his experience in this game of entertainment, so along with Everlast and Eminem and Noriega, they all gave their view on what being a rock or rap superstar really is, because Eminem and Noriega did the rap version, and Everlast and Chino did the rock version.
SINCE91: How do you guys select the songs that will be put on the final album? Do you let your friends hear it and give their opinions? Or is it only between the four of you?
Bobo: We let a selected few of our friends hear it, Bobo: but when it comes down to it it's what we four think and what we're feeling about it. Then Muggs will finalize it because he's the main producer.
MYSTIQUE_22: I really enjoy your music, although I haven't gotten your new CD yet. What are some of the things I can look forward to? (Strong beat, etc.)
Bobo: What you can expect is some raw, hard hip-hop, and also some raw, hard, rap-rock kind of sound. But it's also Cypress - strong beat, strong lyrics...just strong altogether. And what are you waiting for to buy it? Go buy it right now!
B-Real: Quit bs'ing and go buy the record!
mis_liss: How long have you been in the music industry?
B-Real: I've been in the music industry going on ten years next year, as far as making records go. But as far as actually being a rapper and doing hip-hop, something in the vicinity of thirteen or fourteen years.
Bobo: I've been involved with music all of my life because my father was a Latin jazz musician named Willie Bobo, and I started performing with him when I was five years old, playing in the jazz clubs, so I have put in a little time.
PEACEOUT23: Why are you guys called Cypress Hill?
B-Real: The reason behind the name of Cypress Hill is that it's the name of the block that Sen Dog used to live on, and that we all used to hang out on. So, we decided to make that the name of the group. Talking about our experiences in life, we decided to name it for the block that we grew up on.
SINCE91: What else do you guys like to do besides the whole rap scene?
B-Real: We are involved in the low riding scene and the car club circuit. Bobo and myself also do a radio show on 92.3, The Beat, in Los Angeles on Friday nights from 11 to 2, and that's pretty much about it.
