Pure Pop Records, located in downtown Burlington, has been operating since 1980. The basement location has spawned the nickname "home of the underground prices". The store specializes in providing the local music lovers with the stuff they need. The strongest categories are indie/alt rock, hip-hop(underground especially), reggae, and jam bands.

The local university students are the largest customer base, but there is also those older customers, who are looking for a good deal or to be turned on to the next good band. Pure Pop also provides used cd’s for those looking for that great price to fill in their catalog. Another option for customers is the vinyl section, in which, you can find hip hop 12"s and the new album by your favorite artist (if available). The main thing Pure Pop tries to keep focused on is trying hard to provide the Burlington shopper with choices in music he/she might not get at other stores in the area.

Burlington still has a thriving downtown. Pure Pop is located between the main shopping street ( Church St.) and the University of Vermont.
